02 — AIMS & SCOPE

What this journal will review.

The journal aims to publish methodologically rigorous, regionally relevant crop science. Our scope spans eight broad areas — submissions outside these areas are returned without review.

Scope areas 8
Article types 5
Decision time ≤ 8 weeks
01

Crop production systems

Cereal, legume, oilseed, root, vegetable, and tree-crop systems — with a regional bias but not a regional limit.

02

Plant breeding & genetics

Conventional, marker-assisted, and genomic-selection approaches. Germplasm characterisation. Trait dissection.

03

Soil science & nutrition

Soil fertility, nutrient cycling, biology, and management — including soil organic carbon and erosion.

04

Crop physiology

Growth, development, water relations, and stress responses, especially under climate-relevant conditions.

05

Climate adaptation

Modelling, vulnerability assessment, and field-tested adaptation interventions.

06

Plant protection

Pathology, entomology, weed science, and integrated pest management for the region's major crops.

07

Smallholder & policy

Adoption studies, livelihoods, and the policy environment shaping smallholder crop systems.

08

Regenerative & agroecology

Cover crops, agroforestry, integrated systems, and the on-farm metrics that prove they work.
